Yeah- we have been home a week tomorrow. Wanna know how our trip back went??
Flew from California- to Charlotte North Carolina on Thursday April 21... landed at 7pm (after 8 hrs traveling)... picked up by inlaws and went to dinner in Charlotte at my fav- Cracker Barrel. Then we rushed the 2 hours from there to Charleston to try to catch a 12:40am flight to Ramstein Germany. Barely made it- only to find out that the flight was cancelled... Got to our hotel at 1:30 am - got kiddos settled and went to bed about 2:30am..
Got up and had breakfast at 9am... the first checkin for a flight was at 12:50pm... so we took advantage and went down to downtown Charleston (which can I say- I fell in LOVE with). Went back to the hotel and packed up only to find out that the flight was moved up and we missed the checkin- BOO!
We had lunch and went back to check in for the second flight heading to Germany... they ending up finding 10 more seats on the first flight- and all of a sudden they were rushing us onto the flight... so in a matter of seconds we were standing talking to my inlaws (thinking we had another hour with them) to rushing to check our bags and get into the secured area. We were taken out to the plane and brought back to the loading area cause there was a problem with the door on the plane. Ten minutes later we were taken back to the airplane again and then sat on the plane for an hour cause of lightening. Finally we took off... about two hours later we landed in Bangor Maine... it was interesting cause there are no facilities there for us. So they bussed us off the post and brought us to McDonalds. We ran to a grocery store and stocked up on some food for the flight...
We finally landed in Germany- 40 hours after leaving Sacramento Ca, 32 hours after arriving in North Carolina, and 14 hours after leaving North Carolina and 7 hours after leaving Maine...
The adjustment this go around has been rough. Blame it on 30 days of traveling. Blame it on spening half the time on the East Coast and half on the West Coast. Blame it on the one year old who insists on partying from 1-3 am in his crib every night... or on having to wake up at 6:15 am for Hais to go to school...
Whatever it is that is to blame... it was well worth it...
I promise an update of the entire trip... the space A flight to and from... the broken arm... the laser hair removal... the awesome first birthday party... the oral surgery... seeing Charleston... three days in San Francisco... family/friends...
