They just give you kids! Crazy!

We made a big decision! In five short months, we will go from a family of four to a family of six! Lee and I have always wanted a bigger family but nature says no... So we have made the best of it.

We have had it on our heart for about 7 months to host an exchange student. We started the process last summer and it did not work out. We picked a student, only to find out that we missed the deadline for the school district here.

So we stepped back. We prayed about it. In our hearts, especially mine, I knew it was the right move...to go forward. So we restarted the process in September. We did not have many students to choose from because it was early in the process.

Our Rep sent us all the profiles she thought fit. We had told her we wanted a female from Germany. Preferably one with younger siblings... Cause Carter takes some getting used to! So, the first set of profiles came in. There were a few we liked and one in particular stood out.

This is Sina! She will be 16- this weekend! She is from northern Germany.

She is so incredibly sweet. We have Skyped twice... A total of three hours. She likes to read, run, cook and sing. She hopes to play tennis at our high school.

I cannot wait to have her here!

So, we knew we would choose Sina. Then a few days later we got another updated profile list, which was strange because we had chosen. What was even stranger- the first one was a boy! From Denmark!

I read the profile just because. As soon as I was 1/4 way through, I knew he was meant to be with us. When Lee got home, I approached having two students. He said no! I told him that I just wanted him to read the profile. If he did not agree, it was ok. But read the profile. By the time he was half way through, I could see the change. He looked at me at the end and we knew.

Meet Peter. He is from Denmark. He will be 16 in April. He plays American football. He is close with his family. He works and goes to school.

We have Skyped with him as well. I have also been talking with his mother on Facebook.

Before you say anything....yes it seems crazy to have 2 teenagers in our house. Our rep told us they will be more interested in American teens... Not each other.

We have not had teens before. There is a huge learning curve. I am excited to have the experience of showing them America. We have already planned a trip for fall break! Hotels are booked in Santa Cruz and San Francisco!

It will be such a fantastic experience for our family! We feel blessed with the students we chose. We know they are right for us. They are going to fit sooo well with us. Five months feels too far away!
