So a few weeks ago, Fort Bragg had a big event called All American Week. We are the home of the famous 82nd Airborne and our town Fayetteville is considered the "All American Town." All American Week is a week about celebrating the heroes of the past and present. It is filled with Division runs (15,000 soldiers!), sports tournements, breakfasts with veterans and socials.
One of the biggest aspects of it is the Division Review. This is where the entire Division (those 15,000 soldiers) stand in formation and are reviewed. Basically a sort of way to recognize our troops. The big deal about this year is that the last two years All American Week has been cancelled because soooo many troops have been deployed. This year the Division review was done by...dun dun duh... President George W Bush!!! So, Lees unit was in charge of the Fly By. Basically there were like 15 helicopters that flew in a formation, 50 feet over the President and all the troops.

This is a picture of them going to fly over. We decided to skip the craziness of the actual Presidents Review area and we went out to where the helicopters were waiting to take off. It is hard to describe, but standing there looking at 6 kiowas, 6 blackhawks, 6 apaches, 2 chinooks and 2 Medevacs is POWERFUL. They are amazing to see. I have watched these helicopters for the last 4 years and they never cease to amaze me!
Here is Hai and I. The helicopter behind us is the one that Michelle and Lee were flying. You cannot tell in the photo but they had already started the helicopter and the blades are turning.
