Type A remember??

I know I already posted today but this seemed to need its own post-
Remember our review of my type A personality?? I am clearly type A and anyone who knows me knows that I like plans. I like details. I thrive on plans, details and lists. The unknown- freaks. me. out! So... why am I reminding you of this? Here goes...

Lee is taking April 1- 26 off. We are planning on heading to NorCal to see my family. So- ideally- I would just spend the $2600 it will cost for the 4 of us to fly out there. Then there is the realistic side of me (read:cheap). The military offers something called Space A. These are free flights. We can fly out of Ramstein (about 2 hrs away) to pretty much anywhere. For free. Yep. Free.

So- my thoughts were- we will try to get on one of the free flights to anywhere on the east coast. They fly ALOT to Charleston SC and BWI (Baltimore). If we could get to one of those- we can get to my inlaws. Then we could hang there and fly commercially to California. The flights from NC to Ca would only cost us $1100 total. That is a huge savings!!

It is a toss up regarding getting on the free flights. They fly alot. Weather could be a problem but we are thinking April is pretty mild. There should not be a lot of people trying to fly cause kids will be in school.

It makes sense. Just wondering if I can really do it? Can I drive to Ramstein and sit and wait to see if we get on the flight?? You sit in this terminal and wait to see if you make the flight. If not- there are hotel rooms you can book. There is plenty of food places to eat and shopping to do. Even if we have to stay 2-3 days- it would save us a lot of money. Rooms there are only $41 a night- and figure like 30 to eat...

Tell me it makes sense to save roughly $1500...
