New follower thru GFC! I was raised in the Army, mostly Germany until I was 13 so I know quite a bit about the military. Dad was in for 22 years and did not want to leave but when he went to re-enlist when I was 13, the Vietnam ware was still going on and they said they could not guarantee that he would not go. He was in the Korean War and said one was enough and he was single then and now had a wife and 3 children to consider so sadly he had to leave. He was going for another 5 years and wanted to stay in Germany (we all really loved it there) but it was not meant to be. Enjoy the ride and the sites because nothing ever compares after. I know because although I am grown now, I still carry those wonderful memories with me. If your daughter is not a Girl Scout, you need to let her be one now while you are in Germany. My scout troup took us on amazing trips and I got to go to Munich to learn to be a Girl Scout leader by myself other than a few other girls and our leader but I was away from my parents for 3 days and I was only in the 4th grade! I will never forget those days and neither will your children. Are they still requiring kids to take German in school? I had 5 years of German while I was there from 1st to 5th grade. First time Dad was there I was too young to remember and we left when I was in pre K and K but somehow made it back to Germany a year later. I would love a follow back! Thanks.
